Josh grew up in Los Gatos, CA. He was quite the natural at every sport he played and excelled as Quarterback, setting a pretty high bar in his area and getting a lot of attention from many major Universities. Josh broke records at Los Gatos High School & ranked #2 from Northern California QB’s in 1996-1997 and was the only returning senior starter for 1996-1997 team. Rogers won All West Region, rated by Prep Star Magazine, and was invited to the NFL Quarterback Challenge for top 15 California Quarterbacks. Josh’s statistics rated him in the top 10 Quarterbacks on the West Coast, USA by the National Recruiting Advisory, and ranked him #58 for overall recruits in the Far West, by Super Prep Magazine. Rogers played his red-shirt freshman year at Sacramento State before moving on to play at Los Medanos Junior College, where he was voted All-American by the JC Wire Service, 1999. Lou Holtz then recruited him to the University of South Carolina. This is where he met Laura in July, 1999. Josh was Quarterback at the University of South Carolina through 2001. He graduated from USC with a B.A. in Business Administration, juggling a double major in Marketing and Management.
After graduating, Josh modeled in South Florida for print and runway, but actively pursued his dream of playing professional football and traveled all over the country, playing in the Arena Football League from 2001-2004. He took his Arena team to the Arena Cup Championship in 2002, while playing with the Florida Firecats. He and Laura married in West Palm Beach, FL and moved to Anthem, AZ in December of 2003.
Josh was invited to tryout for the CFL and was handpicked after strenuous weeks of tryouts to be one of only four QB’s in preseason. He played in the CFL for Calgary Stampeders in 2004. It was during this time, that Josh had to make a decision. Due to several concussions and overuse of his throwing arm, he developed nerve damage. His arm was only at 20% and prevented him from continuing on. The next year, he went through rehab, but was never able to pursue football further because of the nerve damage. With all that determination and persistence, Josh decided to channel his energy and passion for fitness into a career. He began training clients at the Anthem Community Center, growing a large clientele.
Josh wanted to turn this growth into his own business and decided to train on his own. He turned a single car garage into a nice home gym. The growth happened very quickly through word-of-mouth advertising and soon, the original Sweat gym was busting at the seams without enough parking. After finally finding the perfect location and taking the time to build out the space, Sweat’s first commercial spot opened February 4th, 2008! It was a dream come true!!! Two years later, they doubled in size by expanding the gym to accommodate private school PE for the Caepe School and Anthem Prep School, more clientele, young athletes and fitness trends that required more space.
Josh is a true family man and makes a great effort to balance his family life and spending a lot of valuable time making memories with his family, traveling with and enjoying date nights with his wife and being a positive role model for his 3 kids, all the greatest joys in his life.
Josh stays abreast of the latest trends and best opportunities for his clients to reach their maximum potential. As Sweat’s Head Trainer, Josh creates and coaches new trainers on the Sweat concepts and training methods. The sky is the limit for Josh and he is busy pursuing a Sweat Franchise, future locations and investments. Josh’s true passion will not change though…he still loves the day to day camaraderie that is unique to him training at Sweat. Many of your own friends and neighbors are a Sweat success story. Come in and Josh will welcome you to your very own successful journey at Sweat! Email Josh@SweatChallenge.com for more information!
For Josh, the Sweat story is a tribute to the passion, hard work, time and “sweat” that was put into the business…maybe not the original plan, but Quarterbacks have to adjust and lead…and well, that is what he is best at.

She excelled at a number of sports, including track & field, softball, dance and competitive cheerleading. While in high school, she made a choice to focus on cheerleading and pursue a college scholarship through the sport. Laura competed against over 300 individuals her senior year and placed 3rd in the country on an individual performance, which she choreographed. She also competed in co-ed partner stunting and placed 2nd with her partner. Laura cheered for the well-known Georgia Allstars in high school under the well-decorated coach, Jamie Parrish. They won Nationals her senior year. Laura turned her passion into a full time career and became Head Instructor, NCA College Staff, National Event Judge and Camp Manager for the National Cheerleaders Association, in which she was active for 9 years. She traveled all over the United States training and instructing cheerleaders and their coaches. Laura has coached and choreographed nationally ranked squads reaching the top peak of her career in competitive cheer.
The University of South Carolina awarded Laura with a Division 1A scholarship for 4 years. It is here that Laura met Josh her senior year. In 2000, she graduated with a BA in Journalism, majoring in Public Relations. Being a college athlete, full-time student and having a full-time job was a challenging balance for Laura, but taught her a lot of managerial skills she uses today at Sweat! Laura is no stranger to motivating large crowds having served as the master of ceremonies for the 2000 football season, leading crowds of more than 80,000 fans at home games and was known as the “Mic Girl.” It was this motivation that made personal training an easy future career!
It was Laura’s dream to always do what she loved and it wouldn’t seem like “work.” Fortunately, she was offered a sales job in West Palm Beach, FL to sell cheerleading uniforms to schools and it was the perfect job for her, given her background. After marrying Josh in 2003, they moved to Anthem to start their life clear across the country! They fell in love with Anthem after visiting family.
After 3 years in Pharmaceutical Sales, Laura left to enjoy her new motherhood of their 1st baby and to also help Josh with marketing and sales of Sweat. Laura is always challenging herself to achieve the highest levels of success in her life and decided to become a figure competitor. Trained at Sweat, Laura has competed regionally as a Figure and Bikini Competitor for 6 years and looks forward to competing again in the future. She hopes to inspire other women and mothers to keep their health and fitness a priority. Laura is a posing coach for other competitors and thrives on the physical and mental journey her team goes through to accomplish their goals. She uses her cheer performance background to teach stage presence and body awareness concepts to competitors.
Laura understands what their clients are going through. She has worn many of those masks and can relate to them! She has the athletic background to know what true dedication can bring and the results her clients can achieve if he/she REALLY sticks to something. She also has had to lose a lot of weight from pregnancy and knows what it takes to lose it. Josh and Laura were blessed with 3 kids in 4.5 years, in which she gained almost 40 lbs during each pregnancy. She knows what it is like to feel huge, sore and tired for almost 10 months and then, trying to juggle motherhood with getting back in shape. It’s not easy. She’s been there. She understands. She is fascinated by what our minds and our bodies can achieve and can help motivate you to reach your goals! Laura works hard behind the scenes but also trains many clients at the Sweat gym, coaches the cheerleaders and does private training appointments, as well!
