Josh grew up in Los Gatos, CA. He was quite the natural at every sport he played and excelled as Quarterback, setting a pretty high bar in his area and getting a lot of attention from many major Universities. Josh broke records at Los Gatos High School & ranked #2 from Northern California QB’s in 1996-1997 and was the only returning senior starter for 1996-1997 team. Rogers won All West Region, rated by Prep Star Magazine, and was invited to the NFL Quarterback Challenge for top 15 California Quarterbacks. Josh's statistics rated him in the top 10 Quarterbacks on the West Coast, USA by the National Recruiting Advisory, and ranked him #58 for overall recruits in the Far West, by Super Prep Magazine. Rogers played his red-shirt freshman year at Sacramento State before moving on to play at Los Medanos Junior College, where he was voted All-American by the JC Wire Service, 1999. Lou Holtz then recruited him to the University of South Carolina. This is where he met his wife, Laura in July 1999. Josh was Quarterback at the University of South Carolina through 2001. He graduated from USC with a B.A. in Business Administration, juggling a double major in Marketing and Management.

After graduating, Josh modeled in South Florida for print and runway, but actively pursued his dream of playing professional football and traveled all over the country, playing in the Arena Football League from 2001-2004. He took his Arena team to the Arena Cup Championship in 2002, while playing with the Florida Firecats. He and Laura married in West Palm Beach, FL and moved to Anthem, AZ in December of 2003.

Josh was invited to tryout for the CFL and was handpicked after strenuous weeks of tryouts to be one of only four QB’s in preseason. He played in the CFL for Calgary Stampeders in 2004. It was during this time, that Josh had to make a decision. Due to several concussions and overuse of his throwing arm, he developed nerve damage in his Long Thoracic Nerve, which caused a winged Scapula. His arm was only at 20% and prevented him from continuing on. The next year, he went through rehab, but was never able to pursue football further because of the nerve damage. With all that determination and persistence, Josh decided to channel his energy and passion for fitness into a business. He used his knowledge as a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Pilates Instructor and began training clients at the Anthem Community Center, growing a large clientele.

Now, the Rogers have moved on and opened their own personal gym, called Sweat, to promote fitness, health and lifestyle change. Josh stays abreast of the latest trends and best opportunities for his clients to reach their maximum potential. For Josh, it is a dream come true...maybe not the original plan, but Quarterbacks have to adjust and lead...and well, that is what he is best at.

LAURA ROGERS

    •    Co-Owner/Office Manager/Administrator
    •    Certified Group Fitness Instructor
    •    Certified Personal Trainer
    •    Choreographer
    •    First Aid/CPR Certified
    •    NPC Figure Competitor, Class ADivision 1A
    •    Scholarship Cheerleader at USC all 4 years
    •    Head Instructor for National Cheerleaders Association

Laura was born in Pittsburgh, lived in southeast Texas, Augusta, GA, Columbia and Charleston, SC, West Palm Beach, FL and now, calls Anthem, AZ home!  Moving around created in her a lot of interests.  She excelled at a number of sports, including track & field, softball, dance and competitive cheerleading.  While in high school, she made a choice to focus on cheerleading and pursue a college scholarship through the sport.
Laura competed against over 300 individuals her senior year and placed 3rd in the country on an individual performance, which she choreographed.  She also competed in co-ed partner stunting and placed 2nd with her partner.  Laura cheered for the well-known Georgia Allstars in high school.  They won Nationals her senior year.  Laura turned her passion into a full time career and became Head Instructor and Camp Manager for the National Cheerleaders Association, in which she was active for 9 years.  She traveled all over the United States training and instructing cheerleaders and their coaches.  Laura has coached and choreographed nationally ranked squads reaching the top peak of her career in competitive cheerleading.
The University of South Carolina awarded Laura with a Division 1A scholarship for 4 years.  It is here that Laura met her future husband, Josh, her senior year.  In 2000, she graduated with a BA in Journalism, while majoring in Public Relations.  Laura is no stranger to motivating large crowds having served as the master of ceremonies for the 2000 season, leading crowds of more than 80,000 fans at home games and was known as the "mic girl."

It was Laura's dream to always do what she loved to do and then, it wouldn't seem like "work."  Fortunately, she was offered a sales job in West Palm Beach, FL to sell cheerleading uniforms to schools and it was the perfect job for her, given her background.  After marrying Josh in 2003, they moved to Anthem to start their life.

Laura began gaining interest in personal training right out of college and started learning as much as she could about the fitness industry.  She also had the unique benefit of education from the scientific side from her career in pharmaceutical sales, in which she was a part of for over two years.  Laura learned the science behind the pharmaceutical drugs she helps promote and their effect on the human body.  She began to cultivate the knowledge she was gaining with her passion for fitness and remains active in the world of fitness as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor.  This complimented her career in pharmaceutical sales and allowed her to work with her husband in their business venture, “Sweat,” which promotes a healthy lifestyle and personal fitness training.  Laura is always challenging herself to achieve the highest levels of success in her life and decided to become a figure competitor.  Trained at Sweat, Laura has competed regionally as an NPC Figure Competitor twice and looks forward to competing again in the future. She hopes to inspire other Mothers to keep their health and fitness a priority.

Laura understands what their clients are going through.  She has worn many of those masks and can relate to them!  She has the athletic background to know what true dedication can bring and the results her clients can achieve if he/she REALLY sticks to something.  She also has had to lose a lot of weight from pregnancy and knows what it takes to lose it.  Josh and Laura were blessed with a beautiful baby boy for their first child, in which she gained almost 40 lbs during her pregnancy.  She knows what it is like to feel huge, sore and tired for almost 10 months and then,  trying to juggle motherhood with getting back in shape.  It's not easy.  She's been there. She understands.  She is fascinated by what our minds and our bodies can achieve.

Three months after giving birth to Rhett, she became a "client" of Sweat and joined the Toning challenge and actually weighed less than before her pregnancy, at the end of the contest!  Five months post-baby, Laura trained for her 2nd Figure show and placed 3rd, just 8 months after giving birth!  For her 3rd show, she competed one year after having her 2nd child, Rossilyn.  Little did she know, she was 7 weeks pregnant at that show!!!  Her goal is to do a 4th show after her 3rd baby, as well!

Laura stays very busy doing administrative work "behind the scenes!"  She is always there to answer any of your questions about the programs offered and feels incredibly blessed to do what she loves for a living!
"This job is so incredibly rewarding.  I love to see people's lives changing before my eyes.  We really care about every one of our clients and love to inspire and educate all that walk in our gym!  Let me know how I can help you!"
